PRIVACY
Your audio never leaves your computer.
Last updated 10 October 2026
Hot Spotter is a desktop app. It has no accounts and no telemetry, and it never uploads your audio files, file names, measurements, or notes. This page covers the few things that do touch the internet, and what this website collects.
The app
Your files stay put. Hot Spotter reads the audio you open, measures it on your machine, and shows you the results. It never modifies your files. Your scan history, notes, and preferences are stored in local files on your computer, and you can delete them at any time.
It phones home for exactly two things.
- Update check. On launch the app asks GitHub whether a newer version exists. That request carries your app version and, like any web request, your IP address. Nothing about your audio or your work is sent.
- License activation. If you buy a license, the app sends your license key and a device label to our licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy, to activate it, and again when you deactivate it. Versions up to 0.75.1 use your computer's name as that label; later versions send a generic one, "Mac" or "Windows PC". That is the only data involved. Your purchase itself, including your email and payment details, is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record under its own privacy policy; we see your email and order number, not your card.
That is the whole list. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, nothing running in the background.
This website
Hosting. hotspotter.studio is a static site served by GitHub Pages. GitHub keeps ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, under its privacy statement.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which parts of the page get read. Advertising features are turned off. Analytics sets cookies on hotspotter.studio to tell returning visits apart, and Google processes that data on our behalf under its privacy policy. Data is kept for 14 months.
Your choice. If your browser reports a European time zone, the site asks before loading Analytics and loads nothing until you accept. You can change your answer at any time with the "Cookie choices" link in the footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a decline everywhere.
Email. If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. We don't add you to any list.
Your rights and who we are
If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to processing. In practice the only thing we are likely to hold is a support email thread or a license record, and we will handle any request within 30 days.
